International scientific conference "The current state and perspective of the coregonid lakes"

We are very pleased to announce that the Institute of Ecology of Daugavpils University with financial support of European Social Fund (ESF) project „Formation of interdisciplinary research group for securing the sustainability of salmonid lakes in Latvia” is organising an international scientific conference entitled: "THE CURRENT STATE AND PERSPECTIVE OF THE COREGONID LAKES"

Scientific program
The main topics of the conference will cover all aspects of deep coregonid lakes ecology. The scientific sessions will focus on different aspects of contemporary management of freshwater and its effect on:
  • Biogeochemical and physical limnology;
  • Linkages between human impact, water and terrestrial ecosystems;
  • Experimental and theoretical approaches to lakes investigations;
  • Science supporting management practices for sustainability of coregonid lakes;
  • Biology of Coregonidae;
  • Genetic of aquatic species;
  • Micro – and macro – invertebrates as fish food basis and bioindicators;
  • Aquatic invasive species;
  • Paleolimnology.
The detailed program of the conference will be included in the future announcement.

Costs of participation
Participation in the conference will be free of charge for all participants whose presentation (poster or oral) will be accepted by the scientific committee. All costs (registration fee, conference materials, complete accommodation), except travel costs, will be covered from the budget of the ESF Project.
In effect, all participants need to cover ONLY their travel costs.

IMPORTANT!
Unfortunately, the number of possible participations is limited. In case of an excessive number of applications to the conference, the Scientific Committee will approve the final list of participants.

Presentations
Presentations should be related with the topic of the conference. Poster and oral presentations are welcome on every aspect of the conference topics. The Scientific Committee will select presentations for oral presentation.

Manuscript publication
We encourage all participants to prepare high quality manuscripts (on the basis of the results presented during the conference) and submit it by e-mail before October 16. All submitted manuscripts will go through a peer-review process and will be considered for publication in a special issue of the Acta Biologica Universitatis Daugavpiliensis.
